Who I serve

Churches, senior centers, coal companies, and the businesses in between.

I've done this for churches, senior centers, coal operators, and family businesses. Every one of them gets accurate books, filings on time, and reports written for the people who have to read them.

Churches & Ministries

Church money is different. I handle it that way.

People gave that money, some of them out of what they didn't really have to spare, and they expect it handled right. That's a responsibility most businesses never have to think about.

I keep the books for churches around here now. Designated funds stay designated, contribution statements go out on time, and the finance committee gets reports they can follow without an accounting degree.

Typical work
  • Designated and restricted fund tracking
  • Donor records and year-end contribution statements
  • Minister and staff payroll
  • Monthly reports for the finance committee and deacons
  • Budget preparation and budget versus actual
  • Internal controls that protect volunteers and staff
Nonprofits & Senior Centers

Grant money comes with rules. I keep the books so you can prove you followed them.

Senior centers and community nonprofits run on grants, and every grant has its own strings. Restricted funds, allowable costs, matching requirements, reporting deadlines.

I keep the books so every dollar can be traced back to the grant it came from and what it paid for. Reports to funders go out complete and on time, and the next monitoring visit isn't a scramble.

Typical work
  • Grant and restricted funding oversight
  • Funder and monitoring reports
  • Board financial statements
  • Payroll split across funding sources
  • Audit preparation
  • Budget development
Coal & Mining

More than twenty years inside the industry.

I spent thirteen years as Accounting Manager for TECO Coal, then led accounting for Alden Resources and served as Controller for Catalyst Resources. I know the cost reporting, the severance and excise taxes, the EIA filings, and the audits because I did them for years.

If you need controller-level work without a full-time controller, or books that will hold up in front of investors and auditors, that experience is hard to find around here.

Typical work
  • Cost reporting and month-end close
  • Severance, excise, and multi-state tax filings
  • Tangible property tax and fixed asset records
  • EIA and other federal filings
  • Budgets and forecasts for owners and investors
  • Internal controls and audit readiness
  • Payroll for crews and salaried staff
Small & Family Businesses

You did not start a business to do bookkeeping.

You'd rather run the business than reconcile it. I take the books off your plate: clean records every month, payroll handled, and statements your banker will accept without a second look.

And when you have a decision to make, a hire, a piece of equipment, a line of credit, you'll have current numbers to make it with.

Typical work
  • Monthly bookkeeping and close
  • Payroll and contractor payments
  • Financial statements for lenders
  • Cash flow planning
  • Accounting software setup and cleanup
  • Year-end package for your tax preparer
Since 1996

Nearly thirty years in these mountains.

The programs change every few years. The job doesn't: get it right, get it done on time, and explain it so anybody can follow it.
